Doylestown Rock Gym -- Boy Scout and Girl Scout Badge Programs

Adventure activities are becoming a core component in many scouting programs.  Therefore, we have developed a variety of options for scouts who would like to participate in a rock climbing experience. We offer both recreational and instructional programs. Recreational options are for those who wish to come explore climbing. Our instructional options are for scouts who wish to achieve skill competency or earn a badge.

INTRODUCTORY GROUP PACKAGE

  • 1 hour program

  • Includes harnesses and helmets

  • Unlimited bouldering (low climbing)

  • 2 roped climbs per climber

  • One staff member for every 8 climbers

  • $10 per climber. Minimum 10 climbers. Discount for groups of 30 or more.

  •  Price goes up to $15 Jan 2009.

STANDARD PACKAGE

  • 1 ½ hour program

  • Includes harnesses and helmets

  • Unlimited bouldering (low climbing)

  • Unlimited roped climbing

  • One staff member for every 5 climbers

  • $18 per climber. Minimum 10 climbers.

extended PACKAGE

  • 3-hour program

  • Includes harnesses and helmets

  • Unlimited bouldering (low climbing)

  • Unlimited roped climbing

  • One staff member for every 5 climbers

  • $25 per climber. Minimum 10 climbers.

camp -n- climb

Looking for a cold weather overnight option? We have just the package.

  • Base price = $35 per climber. Price may increase due to staff needs of the group.

  • Includes harnesses, helmets, 2 hours of evening climbing, 2 hours of morning climbing, sleeping space and one staff person.

  • Minimum of 15 climbers required.

SELF INSTRUCTED

  • This option is for scouts who can provide their own belayer. All belayers must demonstrate competence and safety by passing a belay certification at the Doylestown Rock Gym. Instruction will not be provided for belayers unless arrangements are made at time of reservation.

  • $10 per climber. Minimum 10 climbers.

  • Includes facility and helmets. (Harness Rental - $3; Shoe rental - $5)

  • Must indicate arrival and departure time when making a reservation.

GIRL SCOUTS - ADVENTURE SPORTS BADGE

  • Satisfies all skills for Adventure Sports badge.
  • Includes harness, helmet, instruction, certificate of completion and patch.
  • 3-hour sessions at $25 per climber. Minimum 6 climbers.

GIRL SCOUTS - high ADVENTURE BADGE

  • Satisfies skills #2, #5 and #6 of High Adventure badge.
  • Troop can complete the remaining 3 skills easily on their own to earn badge. Extra materials provided to help you finish.
  • Other Skill Builders, Service Projects and/or Career Exploration can be completed upon request
  • Includes harness, helmet, instruction, certificate of completion and patch.
  • Two 2-hour sessions at $35 per climber. Minimum 6 climbers.

BOY SCOUTS - CLIMBING MERIT BADGE

  • Completes all Rock Climbing Merit Badge skills.
  • Instructors are BSA approved merit badge counselors.
  • Includes harness, helmet, instruction, and Merit Badge application.
  • 6-hour program at $50 per climber. (Time may be broken into sessions)

OUTDOOR BADGE CLASS

  • Completes all climbing requirements for Boy Scout Merit Badge, and Girl Scout High Adventure Badge.
  • Includes harness, helmet, instruction, outdoor climbing gear and Certificate of Completion/Merit Badge application.
  • 2-hour indoor session and 4-hour outdoor session at $70 per climber.

LEADER TRAINING

The BEST thing you can do to help your scouts have a great climbing experience is to become a certified belayer! It's cheaper - They get more climbing time - More flexibility in scheduling.

  • 2-hour program. Approximately 1.5 hour instruction and test. Half hour for practice and climbing! 2nd test may be required.

  • Includes harness and helmet

  • Minimum of 5 participants. Must be 16 years or older.

  • $20 per participant. $15 per participant for groups of 10 or more
